He was a better orator than the average man on the straße but obviously fear played a huge part.

There's apparently only one recording in existence of Hitler speaking normally, i.e. not ranting, recorded secretly on a train in Finland IIRC, the article I read said he had a Bavarian working-class accent.
It's on t'web somewhere....

hmm using Hitler as an example.
I can only assume that anyone who thinks that doesn't speak German.
His "great oratory" skill was whip up a mob in a frenzy of hatred, ranting and raving.
