Exactly. If I had less than £16k in savings I would get a few hundred quid more benefits too.

If you've got a CV with 10+ years of contracting experience then why would they require further proof that you can get out of bed?Originally posted by cojak View PostTo show clients that you are able to get out of bed every day and know how to work more than 30 minutes a day while you fill in forms?
(Oh, and I'm with Andy H, btw...)

Got to be fair masonryan has a point. 20 mins per fortnight for £300 or 10 hours per week for £400. hmmm.Originally posted by masonryan View PostThat would bring in £400 and you don't get your £300 dole. So you'd be slaving for £100, working for less than min wage in effect. Why?
Dont go with this pride thing. Its just nuts. There are millions out there who have never worked, and never intend to, but they're happy claiming benefits. Why should anyone feel guilty or too proud because they're claiming something that they've more than contributed to is beyond me.
But then if you're so minted you can't be arsed and don't want the £70 a week then thats different. Personally, the way I look at is thats £300 of my savings being eaten up every month when it doesnt need to be.

Why?Originally posted by northernladuk View PostI don't intend on being out of work for a month and if I was I certainly would not be wasting it at a job center. Everything has a value to people in life and this isn't value to me. You could get £100 a week working behind a bar or other similar role while I didn't have a gig but wouldn't do that either

This is a good one! We have been a bit short really. All we have had is the one post 'Client declared love for me and then binned me' which we can't even agree what it meant. Something to get our teeth in to now.Originally posted by Andy Hallett View PostThanks NLUK for feeding the troll. Had a really long day and this guy is cracking me up.
At last this is one that I could actually believe is someone being this dim so happy to have a play just in case. We have had worse opinions/posts from non trolls in the past. You never know, we might actually be helping some misguided individual here

Time and pride have a value and I am afraid mine is more than £71 a week.Originally posted by masonryan View PostIncorrect. You can claim contribution-based JSA for 6 months which is £71/week. I mean, why wouldn't someone go and collect this? Just have to fill in a couple of forms, sign a few documents every couple of weeks and seem keen to find a job. Easy money.
If you have less than £16k then you can claim more benefits such as housing benefit to cover council tax bill.

Having been through it all a number of years ago, I'd be doing my damnedest to find another gig rather than go down that path again.
YMMV but I can only imagine there'd be more hoops to jump through.
