We all agree on that. The application for Jsa starts with a question: would you like to claimOriginally posted by mudskipper View Post
Savings don't count for contribution based JSA - that's the point - you get it for 6 months for having contributed to the system.
 a) Contribution based JSA
 b) Income Based JSA
 c) I don't know

Case c) the DWP will do the checks for you. If you say: a) then you won't be asked questions about your income.

It is the claimant's responsibility to make sure that all information given are correct. One cannot say: the DWP adviser didn't ask me the question. The DWP and HMRC would have an easy case in prosecuting somebody for benefit fraud.

This is the case now, if and when the UC is introduced natiowide, I believe all will be done online and data will be shared between DWP and HMRC.<Insert idea here> will never be adopted because the politicians are in the pockets of the banks!Comment

Having been through it all a number of years ago, I'd be doing my damnedest to find another gig rather than go down that path again.

YMMV but I can only imagine there'd be more hoops to jump through.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

Incorrect. You can claim contribution-based JSA for 6 months which is £71/week. I mean, why wouldn't someone go and collect this? Just have to fill in a couple of forms, sign a few documents every couple of weeks and seem keen to find a job. Easy money.Originally posted by northernladuk View PostBut you can't claim JSA if you have 16k in savings or in the business account I believe.

If you have less than £16k then you can claim more benefits such as housing benefit to cover council tax bill.Comment

Time and pride have a value and I am afraid mine is more than £71 a week.Originally posted by masonryan View PostIncorrect. You can claim contribution-based JSA for 6 months which is £71/week. Then you're squandering your savings, £300/month, for no serious reason.Originally posted by northernladuk View PostTime and pride have a value and I am afraid mine is more than £71 a week.Comment

I don't intend on being out of work for a month and if I was I certainly would not be wasting it at a job center. Everything has a value to people in life and this isn't value to me. You could get £100 a week working behind a bar or other similar role while I didn't have a gig but wouldn't do that eitherOriginally posted by masonryan View PostThen you're squandering your savings, £300/month, for no serious reason.'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!! This is a good one! We have been a bit short really. All we have had is the one post 'Client declared love for me and then binned me' which we can't even agree what it meant. Something to get our teeth in to now.Originally posted by Andy Hallett View PostThanks NLUK for feeding the troll. Had a really long day and this guy is cracking me up.

At last this is one that I could actually believe is someone being this dim so happy to have a play just in case. We have had worse opinions/posts from non trolls in the past. You never know, we might actually be helping some misguided individual here 'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!! 'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!! Comment
