Recommendations to keep my UK Director details completely private/off public record?

Practically, how does it work? Is all correspondence auto-forwarded to your home address automatically or does all post arrive at Gorilla Accounting and they then fwd it to your home address several days later?

I've got a similar set up with my accountant, company registered to his office, but director's home office is my address. I get all HMRC related stuff sent directly to me with the occasional doc sent to the accountant at which point he just tells me (or not, and just deals with it).

You can have a correspondence address even though the business is registered with the accountant. Think about big orgs where company registration is in a different city/country/continent to where the office is. They've got to have a mechanism to deal with that.

Start off with using an accountant like Gorilla. If you'd looked at their website they do contractors and small businesses.
If at some stage in the future you want to move away from Gorilla, then you move your company address to whoever the new accountant is.




The company you have suggested don't do accounting, all they are is a mail forwarding business, so then you'd need to pay for an accountant on top of that.


Of course, we're saying all this based on what you've told us so far, and if you're not telling us everything (which could be inneresting), then you're not going to get the answers you want.

Nope, I've told you more or less everything. Bitter experience has taught me not to provide an easy path for people to mess with your life like many of you here I guess you've experienced malicious behaviours from people so I just want to keep my details as private as possible. Thanks again for mentioning Gorilla Accounting, I may well consider them and I missed the part where they also do small businesses, I thought they only did contractors and temps etc

This is great for keeping your details private if you are say, a contractor but I'm thinking ahead i.e. 'what if the contracting thing doesn't last' etc What options are there say if you are running a small software company employing 3 contractors but you don't want the director's home address details to be made public anywhere and wish to have company mail forwarded to your home from a different site unrelated to my home ? At the moment I'm just looking for recommendations for this but maybe this isn't really the site to do this in.

I will be moving to Lancashire to start my new UK Limited and will be based there, do some accountants allow you to register solely with them for all HMRC mail correspondence which they can then forward onto my home address ? can anyone recommend any reputable accountants who do this around the Lancashire / Manchester / Preston / Blackburn area ?

You're lucky that you're moving house, as it's pretty much the only means you have of keeping your address safe.

The freely available audit log online show the full history of address changes for both the person and the company, so ensure that your address never, EVER gets on there (even for 10 seconds while they sort out the service address). This needs to be made very clear to the accountant as one f-up and your new address will be on there for all to see in the history forever and Companies House won't remove it (unless you have a very significant and evidenced threat to your safety).

That's a very good point, no document he submits to either Companies house for the certificate of incorporation or to HMRC etc should have your home address on it and the accountant or company that forwards mail should be informed of this beforehand.

Let the starters process deal with whether someone is an ex-con or not. It's not up to you as the interviewer to make that call.

Err, not quite. I didn't include all the details in my original post.

The person concerned had lied to the agency about their criminal record and they still had over six years till their conviction was spent.

Although I was an interviewer, I didn't make the call to revoke the offer as I wasn't the hiring manager. The HR department said the hiring manager was perfectly within their rights to revoke a verbal offer.

Turned out he had got out of prison just a few months earlier after a very violent assault. CCTV footage showed a terrifying episode. I had to tell the agency to revoke the offer and I was genuinely worried about my safety and potential retribution as I am easily discoverable on LinkedIn and Companies House.

Could anyone recommend a company whereby I can keep my UK Limited Company Director personal details (home address etc) completely private and off the public record ?

I am returning to the UK to start a contract in the next 6 months and will have to setup a UK Limited to start this; I had an incident several years ago with an ex-colleague who was fired and thought somehow this was something to do with me (it wasn’t at all). He turned up at my home and aggressively confronted me in front of my family and it was quite distressing, it turns out he just looked me up on Companies House online and found my home address which I now wish to keep private and not searchable.

I see this company offering a service and they forward non-junk mail to you related to your Limited, with the registered address being somewhere down in London https://www.companiesmadesimple.com/...ed-office.html but their reviews seem to be up and down etc.
