Have you made any? What do they say?
If they say you can't go direct to client A for 6 months afterwards then you should talk to the agency.

It's just an easy way to say that without feeling impolite.
It may be they've found someone else. They may have not decided if they want that role filling. They may not like the cut of your jib.
