Already seen this done to UK passport holders in Poland last time I went home, but it's not everyone, seemed to be either random or one in X people. They had small movable "scanner" units with cameras, a palm scanner and a bloody bright flash which left everyone who used it blind for a few minutes at least.

Nope. You'll be required to use the non-EU/EEA/EFTA passport queue and if you've not got the documentation you'll be sent back.

    He's easily confused.

To be clear vetran Bulgarians, Cypriots, Irish and Romanians will not be subject to these checks.

Also the title thread is wrong. Fingerprinting and facial scans for Brits who are resident in the UK and don't hold an EU/EEA/EFTA passport as well starts in October.

Maybe he doesn't like anything disadvantageous being attributed to Brexit?

Fact is, doing anything in the EU (buying/selling stuff, travel, moving there for work/retirement) has got harder/costlier since we left. Which stands to reason because we're now a 3rd country like USA, Australia etc.

UK Citizens (non-EU passport holders) will be subject to finger printing and facial scans when traveling to Schengen countries like Spain. From 2025, we will also need a €7 visa waiver (ETIAS) to enter or transit through any of these countries.

Irish Citizens (EU passport holders) will not.

    It's because we're a 3rd country.

Oh dear some people are just ignorant, the UK, Cyprus & Ireland opted out of the Schengen area decades ago.

El Reeker You may need to get your carer to read the original story to you with the aid of crayons.

According to the European Commission, the system will apply when entering 25 EU countries (all member states apart from Cyprus and Ireland) and four non-EU countries (Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Lichtenstein) that are part of the border-free Schengen area along with most EU member states.
Were we still in the EUSSR then we would have been required to join Schengen or be subject to these checks like Ireland. Brexit made absolutely no difference.

Oh it seems 'INeedaWoody1' didn't know what he voted for, how shocking.

Somehow, I really don't think that people from the UK are specifically being targeted. I expect it's for all arrivals from 'third countries' but the grauniad is playing the victim instead of getting over it.

Shame they're not introducing anal probes to make what people voted for a literal PITA.
