Neither would I! They've told me some rubbish in the past and just point me to their website.

    Thats Jolly good,

Looks like ive got 4 months of expenses to claim

Ive just been to the blackbushe aution to pick but a Golf DTi 1.9 53 plate with FSH for £2500. Drives fine but certainly no X5!.

Only problem is my insurance company says I will have to have an Alarm installed before they can cover me on it ! . . So I've had to just get a temporary cover on it till I get a cheaper quote elsewhere with no need for an alarm

Can I still work into the post office and get a road Tax with Temporary cover insurance?

generally, although not always, company cars are not tax efficient. Its also a hot issue with HMRC and they will look to attack it if you dont declare a P11d. Best not to give them a reason to open an enquiry.

    -as and when working
    -work from home at times
-LTD co also seeking additional clients

my accountant put this arguement to HMRC helpline, and the reply was something along the lines, if i work with no supervision and i dictate the days i am availble to my client, then i am not covered by the 2 year rule. as they deem i need to travel from my business address (home) to see my client office, hence the business mileage is covered as an allowable expense.

Well, it depends on how much time you spend on site and how much time you spend away. If it were me, I'd read up on the rules carefully (there's some good stuff on Contractor Alliance by Bob Jones), and work out the percentage of time spent there.

I wouldn't be putting my faith in a conversation that my accountant had with someone on the HMRC helpline, unless they follow it up with an assurance in writing.

Exactly (well Hatchback) what I got via Joe. £7.5k for a 2.5 year old 45000 mile car. Did 35,000 in it and sold it for £5900 a month ago.

As for what to buy personally I'd go for 2.5 year old boring diesel skoda or seat. VW quality without the price tag and with some warranty left over.

It varies depending on what you are after. If you after small to midrange family cars that sell well then you are competing with traders. Go for a punt with something bit older or exotic you can get some great bargains. Also depends on the individual day and who is there. Same car could go for quite diff price on diff days. Thats the fun of the place. I bought Ford Cougar from there at 3K of the the 10k street prices and had it abother 7 years. Bloody ace but that is cause traders can't sell large engined coupe's with stupid insurance. 4 year old high spec Jag should be a bargain!
