Totally agree. I think going for a local bod in this day and age of contractor specialist sausage factories with FA is a poor choice. I've done it and been bitten hard, as have others. Local guys don't really care about your bitty low priced work that could be done by an entry level accountant so more likely not to get a decent service and unlikely to be cheaper.

Not really - I think you best advice is pick the accounting software package you want and choice an accountant that can offer you that.Originally posted by Abbot View PostI used to use a local accountant that wasn’t a contractor specialist. For the regular LTD co. set up I don’t think there is really anything that happens that a usual high street accountant can’t deal with. It’s better just to ask around and get a local recommendation. They can be very reasonably priced too compared to a lot of the ‘specialist’ contractor accountants.
For reference Freeagent is the default choice of most contractors (and accountants that specialise with contractors) for a lot of very valid reasons.

£2000 per month.
I will then outsource it to an accountant for £150 a month.

Any dodgy accountant can PM you, so I would advise performing due diligence on them before choosing. And please remember that this is a Professional forum gisp.

Don't really see why you wouldn't ring some of the recommended ones like everyone else does either.Originally posted by gisp View PostThis being a request by me, I don't see why shouldn't they send me quotes.

Accountants aren't allowed to tout business on here so it's up to you to do your own legwork. What you are asking for is their bread and butter so will all be able to offer those services. Everyone else seems to be able to find an accountant without advertising on here and it isn't hard.
Check the Accountant recommendations tab and give a few a call and see if you gel with them.Last edited by northernladuk; 19 March 2022, 18:27.
