I also have income protection and it pays a fixed monthly sum you agree to when you take the policy. The higher the amount the higher the premium. it does not rely on salary or dividends and if structured properly you can put it through your company....

They are two completely different products. One (hopefully) helps you getter better without using the NHS and the other gives you an income if you can't work because of sickness.For all my moaning about being missold the wrong type of PMI it is something that has basically saved my life.
