I wonder if there's any advantage in taking out the insurance provided by the tour operator/airline you're booking a holiday/flight with?
Eg. travelling with TUI, taking out their insurance.

Less likely to argue the toss perhaps?

Indeed, which is why I'm inclined to rely on the GHIC first, and only have insurance as a fall-back, belt and braces....

Possibly not but, if you read other forums, they often do go out of their way to wriggle out of paying....

We only ever do short breaks (3 or 4 nts) to Spain/Canaries. We travel light, and take little of value with us (other than passports, cash, credit cards).

My wife has pre-existing conditions, which are either excluded or bump up the premiums. We usually book last minute(ish), so it's unlikely...

As I understand it, insurance gives you the main extra benefits, over GHIC, of covering you for:

• cancellation/curtailment of holiday on medical grounds
• emergency medical repatriation
• loss or theft of personal possessions, cash etc

Anything else major?

Some cars these days look like they've got a laptop strapped to the dash. Surely that's got to be distracting?

I don't like the idea of cars with a mind of their own either eg. lane assist, autonomous braking.

In the past I've had spam where friends/contacts email accounts appeared to have been hacked. Everyone in their address books were getting spammed. This was with hotmail and btinternet....

Have you considered changing your email address? Maybe also switching to another mail platform that doesn't get spammed/hacked as often.

Yes, it's a pain but it might be worth it in the long run. When I did it, I set hotmail to forward everything to gmail. Thankfully, it didn't forward...

When I was on hotmail, used to get tons of it. Not so much, since switching to gmail. And as you say, it tends to come in spates.

My missus has a 2nd email address that she uses for anything she can't 99% trust. She signed up for some prize draw once, and was really glad she didn't use...

Which email do you use? I'm on gmail, and I can't recall any spam for a long time not being redirected to the spam folder. I'm always vigilant for anything suss.
