+1 for David too. I suspect he may end up having to represent the CK clients eventually.
The whole thing is an utter mess with figures being bandied about at random, one of the key points of Boox's defence actually which HMRC admitted, HMRC simply made up the figures. With fancy calculators...

That is pretty much exactly what they are doing.
The irony of course is had all of 'these people' been PAYE HRMC wouldn't have seen a penny of CT, VAT, DT two types of PAYE and two types of NI, claim zero benefits etc., To me I am not sure why HMRC just wouldn't leave alone. We all know...

The final straw in todays brutal attack was, when finally summing up, the HMRC barrister basically calling everyone who gave evidence and Booxs lawyers liars. It was truly jaw dropping....

It gets worse and worse. They are now saying their figures are correct, if they win today they are keeping all CT and DT and the PAYE debt is the figures they made up (admitted in court) and oh by the way they don't give a flying f((( about if you can afford this debt they're getting the money off you,...

For those of you watching today.... ouch ouch ouch and ouch....
Barristers have basically said we are not giving CT or DT tax back and can't be used to pay off the PAYE debt. They have quoted very specific legislation and law. The barristers for Boox look totally deflated. Also HMRC have...

Not sure if you heard when HMRC said they started their investigation in 2012 Boox and CK should have told us, that would have enabled us to make a judgement on the suitability of our accountants for our companies, because they did not do that HMRC argued that we didn't have a clue about our accountants....

I got nothing from today, no fear but no re-assurance either. It's always been about HMRC wanting to change the rules and these cases is exactly what they need to change the law. These cases bear zero resemblance to the Christianyou case but HMRC keep mentioning it every single sentence, the guy is...

Churchill Knight acted in a very different way to Boox really though, which is why early on I had no confidence in Boox. CK had no apps or calculators etc., They had an invoice and expenses portal and that was your lot really.
The think in Boox's favour over CK I think.. was Boox was a...

From what we know the original £1,000,000 raised was to fight the case and use representations. The feedback was sketchy but CK did indicate more would be needed to brief Barristers for the hearings. Now whether that was put aside or the mill was what they needed at the time is the huge question....

I remember this very well too. However CK have clearly abandoned their clients, I wonder if the company who bought them out were made aware of what was going on. If it was hidden from them somehow (not sure how that would be possible) there will be some serious ramifications there... though little to...

Bit like CK have done only taking a million pounds with them in the process too...

Boox's barristers pretty much destroyed the witnesses today and in front of the whole tribunal exposed HMRC's figures as nonsensical at best and fantastical at worst. If those are the best witnesses to prove MSCP then that is a huge turn in our advantage. Watching this case (and attending on Friday)...

That's not what HMRC are claiming though remember. They are saying Boox's app helped contractors work out how much to pay themselves at the most tax efficient level but somehow this was seen as Boox doing everything for the company and the company not having a scooby what is going on and just taking...

I would say a good day today. Very impressed with Boox's director/owner rebutted HMRC's constant line of questioning and I was very impressed when asked about clients needing to use the app to notify of payments etc., He quite rightly answered many times how can I provide accountancy services if I have...

This is a rather broad analogy but a good one. The Tribunal we are watching now have Boox and the clients on the stand. In your analogy both the Restaurant and the diners.
The two clients we have heard from so far gave really good compelling arguments why they couldn't be a MSC, particularly...

If I was to use a boxing analogy I would give that round to Hector... just. They took a very long time to get to Boox's advertising and the 'We'll do the Rest For You" but when they did it was like an upper cut after a round of aggressive jabbing. The wording of Boox's advertising may well hurt...

Hard to tell. Cross Examination yesterday and today from Hector's barristers. Defence seems very solid and coherent....

Obviously looked and sounded good from the defence side, it's nothing really new same things they said as they said six years ago to HMRC. Didn't stop HMRC taking it this far though....

Watching it live, going to London on Friday. Opening Counsel is very convincing and it does appear the Judge at the moment is very sympathetic to the defendants case. They have agreed to allow the PSC who was due to testify... give evidence. So far so good. Be interesting to hear what HMRC come up ...
