Dont see UK interest rates really making that much difference in the UK. Maybe in the USA which is where most of the innovation happens in IT.

Its the end of an era I believe. The amount of bespoke IT work the vast majority of companies need doing in house has been dropping for a good...

Im seeing 90% of roles with 'state salary requirements' - 10 years ago it was maybe 10%. Times have changed. How long before its 35k for a senior XYZ role in London?

I try and put 'market rates' if theres no integer only check

Woman actually called me about a role I applied...

I applied to 100 jobs using a resume with the name, "Kismma D. Nhuhts" and I got 29 interviews.

    You're probably right.

If theres a lack of roles though. Youd have thought that would give recruiters all the time in the world to call candidates

Im guessing whats happening is their bosses are asking them to spend 95% of their time cold calling potential clients to drum up...

Im trying engaging with some of their posts. I pretty good at that. Some Agents do have relatively interesting takes.

Social Selling I guess would be the technical term - mostly feels like p*ssing in the wind though. Or a teardrop in an ocean of career shaped despair.

    From...

Doesnt suprise me. I remember hearing an agent say Job Boards were hopeless about 15 years ago.

I also was around during the hiring process with LinkedIn job ads once. Applicant quality was also trash. Mostly non EU people.

Ive just finished LI automated application test. 1000+...

Workday - the worst thing to happen to applying for jobs in 30 years. Lets make you choose a username and password for EVERY company advertising roles. Even though they all use Workday.

"SSO is for losers" - Head Of Product - Workday

Just seen exactly this on LinkedIn....

Getting anywhere with perm has been a nightmare for me. Depends on how old you are, how in demand your skillset is, how long you've been a contractor etc

If youre youngish, not been contracting long and have relatively niche skillset - assuming your wont have much of a problem

Not sure about that. Had a similar convo about this on this forum recently. I agree AI is not some silver bullet but I think its not as much "replacement of jobs". But a dumbing down of tasks/automation to make it easier to offshore.

I quoted End of Year reports of digital agencies...

Interesting. I know the LI automation space well. LI has been clamping down on it in the last year significantly. Most of the tools will all suffer the same caps

So 2022 he may have had broader reach than now so maybe not a like for like comparison but probably proves the kind of volume...

I always used to try and speak to the agent before sending a CV for a contract role. Now, many agents don't have their phone number on either their LinkedIn profile or on their company website. If it's a central office number, it rarely seems to get answered.

I've seen quite a few agents

Jobserve has always been mostly professional services FS, Insurance, Legal etc + public sector in my experience.

Dont know why just seems that way - London roles seem to be ever more finance than ever- maybe everyone else cant afford the rents.

Yea man Ive been on a side hustle for 2 years luckily and applying for stuff for the rest of the time. Maybe without the side hustle Id have been applying for a few more roles -seems like you have to be calling people these days. Just digital comms doesnt cut it.

    Ha so true.

Just started one. They ask for a password on page 1. Choose a password then it expands to another FOUR pages

I heard the term 'hyperspecialisation' in a video on current state of IT. eg People at Snapchat who just work on buttons - thats not a joke

With increases in supply and decreases in demand its hard to get anywhere as a generalist. But then like you say if SF goes out of fashion and your...
