This time last year I drove from Essex to Leeds once a month and did two nights in a hotel
PM let us leave at 3pm on the second day so it really wasn't too bad.

I am 53. I am in an outside contract on my lowest rate ever and am now only considering perm positions.

I am 53 and the medial meniscus on both knees has worn away to nothing. Keeping my legs strong helps and I take cod liver oil, turmeric and glocosamine.
Some days I feel like I could go back to running and some days I am in pain....

1. Every contractor believes their agent is on a hefty margin.
2. That is how companies like CapG work.
3. If you leave then you will be replaced immediately. Even if you were worth £500pd and at the very top of your game CapG wouldn't think twice about replacing you with the first person...Last edited by TheDude; 18 December 2025, 16:18.

I am getting more approaches from recruiters and am seeing more positions on job boards.
The bad news is contract rates are at an all time low and I am considering perm roles.
I am 53 and waiting (hoping) for rates to increase is probably a big risk so I am considering perm...

I used to own an Austin Maestro so I might see if my experience will be of use with the new Ajax vehicle....
