Just had a call about a gig performing the same role at a previous banking client for the same rate.
The learning curve and complexity of the system is quite intense so I would be shocked if I didn't at least get an interview but in todays market who knows?

I made that mistake in my last 'fat' contract. I didn't really notice the volume of recruiter calls dropping off over the two years I was there and assumed I would walk straight into another contract at a similar rate as I had always done in the past.

I bet ex-pats in Dubai were congratulating themselves on sky high rates as well before the missile strikes started.
If conscription was introduced in the UK the last thing I would be thinking about is contract rates and legroom on the train.
