Last couple of books I loaned in 1993 never came back... one was "Foundations of Wireless" by M.G. Scroggie in the 6th edition (which I've replaced), the other was a 1950s McGrawHill tome on Vacuum Tubes that I've forgotten the title & author of.... I'm still irritated by that...Originally posted by El_Diablo View PostWhen I bought my shelves, I for some reason counted all the geek books I have, I didn't realise I've got a small library. I don't know what it is but I don't like throwing books away, nor do I like it when I allow someone to borrow* one and they return it dog eared, or dirty.

I feel I need to look after them and treasure them, am I alone in this weirdness?

It would appear the scientists have at long last answered the question, "Do sharks s*** in the sea?"

The next phase of the program is to strap a camera to a grizzly to determine whether bears s*** in the woods.Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?Comment

I went on to the Ikea site last night to order some Billy shelves. The shelves themselves are £29, while the delivery is £35. Money well spent in my opinion.Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?Comment

No, I'm the same. I never get rid of a book - I've even got a Maeve Binchy that an old lady gave me when I worked for Age Concern many years ago. I'll never read it, but I still have it

I think it's something to do with my Dad - he used to be a writer, and brought us up to treasure books. When we moved from Liverpool (when I was nine), the removal men had to go back to the depot to get more tea chests - they said they'd never seen a family with so many books before

 3 carrier bags full.

I gave them to my sister....

They were previously sitting in a pile on a kitchen counter, where they've been for about 5 years or so...

The pile is now a little smaller.. Comment
