Indeed... apparently he's been making his wife's life hell for years too, and presumably their kids' lives too

She was a lovely lass (I knew her before she hooked up with him, also from the pub) but I haven't seen her in years - it would appear that, rather than her being happy to stay at home looking after the kids, it was more a case of him not letting her out, and knocking her about on a regular basis. Apparently this all came out at the trial

I hope she's able to get her life sorted out - though years of that kind of treatment won't be easy to get over.

Indeed - I hope she's able to move on and make a fresh start. Presumably the chap was already known to the police if they had his DNA on record?

His DNA was found in a house he burgled in 2006 - that's how they were able to link him to the 1987 case.

I would have been shocked to hear that he was a burglar, never mind anything else
