Been having a quick hack of some code for my weather fax thingy, using a PIC16F88...

Found some code on the Microchip website for a 16f877, which is much the same sort of thing.

Attempt to assemble said code & it comes up with the inscrutable error message "argument out of range" for a configuration directive...

Wot? says I, wotcha talking about?

And merrily hack away at this config thingie.

Turns out that the 16f88 has two config registers, _config1 and _config2, whereas the 16f877 only has the one...

So instead of

__CONFIG _CP_OFF & _WDT_OFF & _BODEN_OFF & _PWRTE_ON & _XT_OSC & _WRT_ENABLE_OFF & _LVP_OFF & _DEBUG_OFF & _CPD_OFF

what I really needed was

__CONFIG _CONFIG1, _CP_OFF & _WDT_OFF & _BODEN_OFF & _PWRTE_ON & _XT_OSC & _WRT_ENABLE_OFF & _LVP_OFF & _DEBUG_OFF & _CPD_OFF

Obvious really.

Only had to read the include file to figure that one out...

I'm not sure which is more egregious: the maths, or the entirely inappropriate use of the word "need"
