Circa 1986. Software house. Works Xmas do. One of the most hardened boozers turned up two hours late. He came running in yelling and carrying listing paper.Originally posted by zeitghost View PostDon't you just love learning the foibles of compilers?
"I was right! There IS a bug in the compiler!"
He had spent all day and half the evening writing test cases to prove the ICL ME29 Range COBOL compiler had a bug. He was seriously happy.
The booze-up degenerated into everyone poring over his listings and debating his diagnostic technique.
Aah. Happy days.
