The answer was yes & no....

Yes if there was sufficiently thick insulation around the cold compartment...

In this case that meant that the cold compartment was half the size of a teacup...

Or alternatively, no, unless you had half a tonne or ton of lead acid batteries to supply 4A for 48hrs.

Lithiums weren't sufficiently developed at the time & were vastly expensive.

Yep, exponential and I'm expecting to get down to about zero in the 18C kitchen we have.

Not very; got as far as it refusing to read the WAV file as program... dunno why yet.

Maybe I'll try writing some of its own code to the pc soundcard & have a shuftie at that...

        Or not.

Best of luck, I ran a datalogging program overnight to graph mine out.

Then had to write something to throw away 90% of the points coz I had too many for the graphing s/w to cope with.

I am using a more flexible method. It is called "Open the door every hour and see what the fridge thermometer says and write it down on the bit of paper".

I am using a specialised graphic application called "NickFitz does a nice graph".

Experiment: a £40, 14 litre mini-fridge from Argos: what is its cooling power?
Switched on at 18:25 in a room with a temperature of 18°C. 5 normal 75cl wine bottles put in there which were also at the same room temperature of 18°C. Total liquid: 3.75 litres. Also a kilo or so of glass bottles.
                    At 18:25, 18°C
                    At 19:25, 15°C
                    At 20:25, 11°C
                    At 21:25, 10°C
                    At 22:25, 9°C
                    At 23:25, 7°C
