The spider will have an appropriate Politeness Policy to ensure that indexing doesn't stress the server. As the spider will only download the HTML of the page, and won't bother fetching all the images, stylesheets, scripts and whatever, it will actually create considerably less load by its activities than would be caused by one additional user - and a user who doesn't read very fast at that.Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostDoes this mean that BI's stats will be redundant?
I hope that getting every page will be done at 3am so there is no performance degredation?
From BI's occasional comments about doing the stats manually I reckon he'll be glad to save himself the cutting and pasting into Excel. He'll also be able to use the TPD-QL (whether via his own HTTP applications, or through the browser-based query builder) to create new and preposterous analyses - as will anyone, although I don't suppose many will bother.Comment

Spiders stress me. Can you implement an order-wide Politeness Policy to get all arachnids to be polite to me?Originally posted by NickFitz View PostThe spider will have an appropriate Politeness Policy to ensure that indexing doesn't stress the server.
