so people have to own elephants then?
No, they're wild elephants - these researchers will tag one with a collar carrying a GPS unit which sends its position back by radio once a day. The collar usually either flattens its batteries, breaks down, or comes off after about a month, and they go and collect it to fix it and put it on the next elephant that rocks up.

My app might not work anymore, if they're tracking different elephants now - I hard-coded the elephant identifiers as it was just a demo. Their site didn't offer any easy way to determine which elephants were available

Given my feelings toward Linux at this moment, I'm tempted to delete a random piece of open source stuff out of protest. And then I'll fetch the bread knife and cut my nose off.

I want to shout at Micro$oft because I can't get Ubuntu working - how's that for force of habit?

(Mind you, if I wasn't wanting to retain Windows, the installation would probably have worked. So I reckon it is still Micro$oft's fault.)

I had also searched the registry - no joy there.

So I did a search (ZTreeWin - replacement for XTGold is a God send for this kind of work) on every file changed since I started messing about with this Ubuntu.

The only references to A: were in temporary internet files for Internet Explorer (huh?) and in \WINDOWS\RECENT a run of PRESIZER.EXE on A: (huh?) and a shortcut to A: was in \WINDOWS\RECENT too.

Cleared the Internet Explorer cache & history, and deleted the \WINDOWS\RECENT entries.

Sorted. (If I go into the recycle bin, as it gets to the two \WINDOWS\RECENT entries, it accesses the floppy drive. well weird.)

But I've no idea at all why ... ah. PRESIZER.EXE is a Linux tool related to dual boot stuff.

            Poxy Ubuntu.

I was working out how to write a spider to crawl TPD and allow various analyses of TPD metadata, but I appear to have ended up talking about elephants with GPS units
