    Morning denizens

Once again I drifted back to sleep for a while after the alarm. I really must try this “getting to sleep earlier” thing

It’s a cloudy day and looks like there’s been some rain, or maybe just drizzle, overnight. Patches of blue here and there though, so maybe it’ll clear later. It’s still mild at 18°C with an expected high of 23°, and the wind seems to have eased off a bit; the barometers are steady at 1009/1017mB

      Morning all

Dull and overcast, although it has brightened up over the course of the morning. Currently 22 degrees ('feels like' 24) with a high of 24 expected. There may be a light shower this afternoon. Barometer up to 1023 mBar.

      Sunrise 06:34; Sunset 19:18 BST

This morning's act of presenteeism has been performed. Now back to job hunting. I might do that cleaning I've been avoiding too, seeing as I don't have any work to avoid doing.

You were quite right. I received a letter today (dated 9 September) inviting me to pay £93 to attend a course, or pay £100 and have 3 points on my license.

Lunch, by the way, was a Pukka steak slice

The gradual winding down of activity on this project continues. Today, the main thing I had to do was make some content changes on the home page, replacing a few outdated links and so on. I had to wait a while this morning to be given access to the relevant Word doc on Sharepoint. The changes themselves didn’t take much time, except that a number of things like links and email addresses are defined as constants in the codebase to make them easy to change, and I found a few inconsistencies in the ways these had been used, so I ended up tidying up a few other bits like the error pages and so on

By mid-afternoon, I’d got bored of pondering important questions like whether the bits in the sidebar needed full stops or not. Then I remembered that I was supposed to be documenting the database rollback process from when we had a problem with somebody uploading duff data last month. All the technical aspects are already documented elsewhere so I expected to just turn out a few paragraphs explaining how to alert the relevant team, along with links to their docs. But in the end, I added a bunch of useful tips about how to track stuff down from logs and file timestamps, and various other useful links, and then started putting bits in colourful “Warning” boxes, and so on; and that kept me amused until it was time to knock off

And I also remembered to put the dishwasher on
As predicted, it’s brightened up here now. Seems a bit windier though; it’s a very windy September this year

Bah! Another of those walks that should have been over a nice open area according to OS maps on my phone and was actually along the edge of a big new housing estate.
