Well the ZeitBigClock(tm) is in the process of being tested.

The PIC oscillator oscillates.

The I2C bus I2C busses.

Two of the segment lines were connected together & I suspected a bijou design error but it turned out that they were shorted by a whisker on the pcb.

Removed the whisker & all 7 segments and the dot light up as per intent.

Only 7 segments? You haven't gone for one of the ones with diagonals on it?

It's complicated enough as it is.
