Strange how non of this was mentioned at interview time
Funny that.
Equally funny how the 5pm finish transmogrifies into 6pm, then 7pm as a general rule.
With a 10pm finish thrown in for good measure from time to time.
My favourite was when the owner was on holiday, had promised delivery of an unfinished system whilst he was away, & I ended up developing the hardware & the software with the customer sitting on my shoulder until 22:30.
I was not a happy chappy.
Then one of my design decisions was wrong, apparently, because I did a quick & dirty fix so that I could actually go home that evening.Last edited by zeitghost; 18 April 2012, 10:35.Comment

Poor 5*. Have another
I got caught like that at one company and it really didn't go down well when I downed tools at a civilized hour. I wouldn't work perm at a start up ever again.+50 Xeno Geek Points

I have however managed to break the back of my inter process messaging system.
added a cheeky header containing the message length so the server could then strip off the first 4 bytes and know how long the rest of the message was.
Seems to work well and I have no errors - I wonder if my "design" will go down well with the "Chief Engineer"Comment

I came in on Monday morning to find an email from Chief tearing strips off me. I was fuming and it took until 4pm for me to respond.
Then Tuesday meeting was about everyone working hard faster longerComment

Seriously 5* - run. Mrs 5* also won't be happy with a knackered, grumpy and never-there husband.+50 Xeno Geek Points

Funnily I dont seem to see any benefit in this and its just paper and I won't be "giving myself" the way they want.
If they want shut of me then fine, otherwise I will continue to do my time.
