After a bit of mucking about, I've got a Django app running (temporarily) on a Mythic Beasts web server

Half an hour ago, I was thinking that I wasn't hungry after the fry-up earlier and might just have a light snack for tea. But now the pangs are starting, so I think I'll give it a bit longer before I dismiss the idea of a takeaway

As expected, I built up enough of an appetite to make it worthwhile ordering something. So tea has been a mixed grill from the Turkish restaurant past the park, selected because there's enough of it for at least one more meal

I arrived at Mum's to hear the dulcet tones of her and my brother having an argument! Apparently her Avon purchasing habits are out of order, as is her insatiable desire to keep buying more air freshener. So, they're getting on like a house on fire.

We sorted out the council tax and updates to the Sky subscription so he can continue watching Formula One.

Also sorted her out an outfit for my cousin's wedding that's taking place in two weeks, showed my brother what said outfit was and where we'd put it. Mum didn't quite understand that court shoes will feel too tight if you try them on with thick socks on.

The drive home was via the Waitrose up the road from Mum's because HWMBO needed some extra ingredients. My goodness that one is like some kind of middle class zombie apocalypse, what with all the nearly dead staggering about randomly stopping in the middle of aisles while they try to remember what day of the week it is.

On getting home, my kitchen had every surface covered in something. Eventually HWMBO had to stop on account of running out of clean utensils and useable work surface. This meant I could wrangle some order, clean it all up and get the dishwasher going. He had the audacity to return to do the next batch of prep before I'd finished, thus interfering with my cleaning, tidying, and putting away system.

Tonight's major motion picture premiere was M3GAN 2.0 (2025) in which the notorious AI robot doll has to be revived because it's the only hope of tackling an AI robot woman who's (that's?) gone rogue with a load of nerve gas and so on. Sadly, this turned to be well shonky, provoking a constant stream of thoughts along the lines of "That doesn't work that way, nobody would build a system that way, nobody would say that, nobody would act like that in that situation, that definitely doesn't work that way and couldn't be made to, oh for God's sake that doesn't make any sense at all" which rather distracted one from some half-decent action scenes, albeit clichéd for the most part, and mixed in with action scenes that weren't that good. I'd suggest waiting until it's free on some service, or maybe just not bothering with it at all

And then I got around to watching the first couple of episodes of Dune: Prophecy (TV Series 2024– ) which I thought were pretty good. It may be that you have to be a true Dune fan to get the most out of the series, which reminds me that I recently bought the original trilogy of books (Folio Society editions, no less) and should probably read them some time

          Goodnight all

CBS, etc. A big morning walk is probably a good idea before it gets too hot.

^^^ OM for NF. Yesterday. . Unnoticed. Things falling apart, the centre no longer holding, the mighty fallen, unbroken the sands stretch around. Or something.

              Morning.

              Sunday.

              Dry.

              Sunny in parts.

              Blue sky in parts.

Cool in here at 20.7 deg, 21.5 in the kitchen, 20 in the leanto, 18.6 in the saltinghouse.

              1021 mBar, 30.15 in Hg, 765.8 Torr, 14.8 psi, (up from 1019 last night), 67% RH(Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 6th of February 2020 NF had a cold Scottish burger in a bap for lunch, whereas I had beans, followed by liver & bacon for tea which proved odoriferous, with sympathy for same from LM, whereas WTFH was in back to back meetings, and I indulged in a can collecting trip up the hill, also finding my very late aunt's grave in the cemetery, something that only happens when the japanese knotweed dies back for the winter & the daffs are in flower on the grave thusly helping to locate it in the wilderness.

I rather enjoyed M3GAN but wasn't much struck with enthusiasm for any of the Dune saga, having last read any of it half a century ago, though I do have dvds of the 1980s David Lynch/Dino De Laurentiis epic with Sting.

On the LM's mum's purchasing, I'm still using up (very slowly) the Cif bought by my mum & she's been gone for 10 years. On the other hand, the paper tissues I bought for my dad are still in the cupboard & he's been gone for 11. I'll probably be dead before I use them all.

Bedding wash in progress: all pegged out on the line. Complete. Even made the bed to avoid the angst at midnight. .

Walk walked up to Tonna & back along the towpath. Stone me there's not much water in the canal but plenty of trees. At one point you could step across from the towpath to the opposite bank without get your feet wet.

              Tea: beans on toast etc.

Entertainment: Weatherman Walking: Pen Y Fan. I recall visiting Neuadd Res 30 years ago with then GF & her daughters.

Dunno if there are any Finlay J. MacDonald epics on this evening. There weren't.

Thing about Gobekli Teppi on Blaze: reasonable enough until the Ancient fecking Aliens made their inevitable appearance.

"The Lineup (1958)" with that Eli Wallach, directed by that Donald Siegel. Pretty good noir.

                Morning all

Sunny with lumps of fluff. Currently 21 degrees ('feels like' 24) with a high of 26 expected. Barometer up to 1028 mBar

                Sunrise 05:39; Sunset 20:33 BST

I have been up to the local grocers for yet more provisions. Setting out of chairs in the garden (after a firm brushing down to dislodge resident spiders etc.) with their cushions is done. Dishwasher emptied and reloading underway. Waiting for Sainsbury's to open so I can buy ice and soft drinks. Bathroom yet to be given a once over.

The hoards guests are set to arrive from 12:30.

Another local event, happening today, is a Hindu Chariots parade. Many roads closed but not as much as I thought as busses were still running where I least expected them. There's a market in the little park round the corner too.

                  Morning denizens

Sunny and Simpsonesque out today, and a warm spell is building up: it's 21° with an expected high of 25°, getting to 30° by Tuesday and staying around today's target for the rest of the week. The barometers are up, as one might expect: 1016/1024mB

I also enjoyed M3GAN so this sequel was a real disappointment. I think the success of the first one must have gone to their heads, because this one just seemed to have lazy writing based on lazy plotting
