    Shopping done!

I just popped down to Not-as-Big Sainsbury's this time. I didn't need much really, so I stocked up on non-perishable household stuff and managed to get the bill up to the level that activated the triple Nectar points voucher that would otherwise have expired today

But I did get ingredients for something new for dinner this evening. That's now in the oven, as it needs a long time at a low temperature to start with

Tea was belly pork braised in cider, courtesy of a recipe on the website of the Irish Food Board, accompanied by chips and peas. Very nice indeed. There's three portions to go in the freezer, and I'll definitely make it again

Getting windier here again, but still reasonably warm

Tonight's major motion picture premiere was Companion (2025). This wasn't the first film I've seen this year about a robot companion doing something it didn't ought to do, and it won't be the last. But it's almost certainly the best! A cunning plot with many unexpected twists and turns, and it doesn't shy away from the darker issues around the notion of such entities becoming a socially accepted thing. Highly recommended

And then a rewatch of Nobody (2021) because… well, who needs a reason?

Finally, the final episode of S2 of The Last of Us. Given that it ends on a cliffhanger, I assume there'll be an S3. I felt they could have done a bit more with this season (or series) but apparently seven episodes is what we get. Ah well, at least it's working out well for that young lady from Loughborough; I think the good Doctor would confirm that there weren't many options for them many years ago, and as far as I know things haven't picked up much on that stretch of the A6, so it's good to know at least one of them has got out alive and successful

          Goodnight all

CBS, 13C out, and no breeze. Time for a walk. Noticeable that it’s still twilight and the sun isn’t up yet.

              ^^^ done that already.

              >12k steps done on the walk, would have been further but bumped into the photography student's father who wanted an update on the water damaged gear - currently the lens is mostly functioning, while a couple of the elements are still misty. I've not touched the body, will leave that drying until tomorrow or Sunday.

                Morning.

                Friday apparently.

                Dry.

                Grey.

                Sunless.

Cool in here at 20 deg, 20.5 in the kitchen, 19 in the leanto.

1013 mBar, 29.91 in Hg, 759.8 Torr, 14.69 psi, (up from 1009 last night), 67% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 6th of February 2020 NF said good morning with a minute to go , LM had fixed the FUBAR caused by the young oik after a mere 3 hours work, wattaj, NF, & BR14 sympathised, and I found the weather remarkably shiny , whilst Regressive were finding me contracts in Gloucester at rates I wouldn't work for locally (must have been bad considering the £6/hr for the fixing of fruit machines job).

Shopping trip to Morrisons done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away. Didn't really need to do it but the bonus points thing ran out tomorrow, so striking when the iRon was hot, like.

Thank feck that fecking dog has shut up for a bit. All day long on occasion. . And I'm 3 doors away. What it must be like next door to it, I dread to think. One of their neighbours has a shotgun. . .

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: Food prog about Polish food. The Autism thing.

The drugs of hallucination thing. .

The fecking barking fecking dog is fecking back. .

On the trudge down to Morrisons I found a rather nice 13mm 3/8" drive socket, which had a union nut stuck in it. A deft tap or two with a suitable pin punch removed said union, leaving me with Yet Another 13mm socket. As if I didn't have enough already. . I wonder who threw it away.

4 lawns duly mown. Could hear the dog even with the ear defenders on.

Tea: Mr Brains faggots with peas & suchlike.

                Entertainment: PM.

The post WWII French thing: 1953 to 1962. Gosh. They had impressive favellas in that France during the 1950s.

Sunny with high level wisps here and there. Currently 18 degrees with a high of 24 expected. Barometer up to 1018 mBar.

                  Sunrise 05:36; Sunset 20:37 BST

Up early to get yea olde jalopy to the garage for the exhaust to be checked out. It's much quicker making the short drive to Acton pre-0800. I suppose it also helps that the schools are still on holidays. Here's hoping it won't cost too much to sort out.

Sunny and Simpsonesque out today. Getting warmer too: already 20°C and heading up to 23° soon. The barometers are bouncing back at 1007/1014mB

The back box is blowing but my mechanic thinks it can be welded rather than needing replacing. His welder has just gone on holiday so the car is booked in for when they get back. All fixable for under £170, which is pleasing to my bank balance.
