In The Corner That Held Them, the ongoing construction of the spire continues to cause problems for the nuns, not least with the villagers who resent seeing their tithes spent in this way

Still quite breezy out, but at least it'll be a lot cooler tonight

    Goodnight all

      Morning denizens

It's a windy day out and also cloudy but in patches, so it alternates between bright sunshine and rather gloomy every ten minutes or so. Rain is due towards lunchtime and through much of the afternoon. Milder too, being 14°C now and only aiming at 18°; the barometers are back up a bit at 1001/1009mB

CBS earlier, but a few clouds coming in now and a gentle breeze. Delivered 10kg of plums to a local hostelry last night.

          ^^^ NF manly & OM.

          Morning.

          Tuesday?

          Grey.

          Sunless.

          Damp. .

          Dreary.

Cooler side of warm in here at 22.5 deg, 23.5 in the kitchen, 21.5 in the leanto.

1006.5 mBar, 29.72 in Hg, 754.9 Torr, 14.598 psi, (down from 1007 last night), 61% RH (Lidl electric) 79% RH (GDR hair).

Meanwhile on the 1st of February 2020 BR14 popped in, Brillo popped in & was having a better day, LM congratulated him, WTFH remarked that It Wasn't Raining, whereas I thought the sky looked a bit odd, possibly because I could see it.

Yesterday's exertions in bathroom cleaning seem to have paid off in terms of having a sparkly bathroom (aside from the shower curtain) and a satisfying night's sleep.

Raining now. And it's not taking prisoners.

Freecell score: 100% (admittedly of 3), running average: 83%.

          Lunch: brunch.

Entertainment: the Rebecca Stott thing. Noon o'clock news. Wot's the Orange Feckwit up to today. .

Sun's out. . Panic over: it rained again.

More of the Enigma book. Looked up I. J. Gold.

R4 thing about the HS2 debacle. WTF?

In the deep grey gloom of the afternoon: house roughly vacced. Many spiders disturbed.

Now getting outside a mediocre cup of Tesco coffee. It's consistently mediocre which ticks all my requirement boxes, though I note the reserve jar has The Label Changed. .

Picked up a book: John Sladek: complete & utter crap: DNF: off to paper rec/Oxfam with it. According to goodreads, it's for "completists" which leaves me out since I've never read anything else of his & am now very unlikely so to do. Even the parodies were crap.

Tea: Tesco battered haddock. Nice enough.

          Entertainment: PM <click>

UFO bollox on Blaze. More bolloxy bollox in case the first bollox wasn't bolloxy enough.

Neil Oliver waffling on about the mesolythic to neolithic changes in population.

Vanished Wales. Apparently Jimmi Hendrix is mentioned in this one: the tour he did with Pink Floyd, The Move, and Amen Corner that featured a gig in Cardiff in Sofia Gardens in 1967. Plus a village they knocked down because of fears of the mountain behind it slipping. And the Boys' Village in St. Athan. And the ex RAF camp Polish village on the Lleyn at Penrhos.

          Foyle's War S1 E2. Isn't 2002 a Long Time Ago. .

            Morning all

Sunny with patches of fluff wafting past in the breeze.Currently 21 degrees ('feels like' 24) with a high of 22 expected. There's rain forecast from lunchtime onwards. Barometer up to 1015 mBar.

            Sunrise 05:02; Sunset 21:12 BST

Nye was very good. Although it didn't feel like it, it's quite a long play at 2h45m plus an interval.

The performance started late because two girls kept sitting in seats and then being moved when the ticket holders for those seats turned up. Their shenanigans eventually caught the attention of the manager. I thought perhaps they had snuck in without tickets but it turned out that they'd bought seats that weren't next to each other and wanted to sit together so they just assumed that any empty seats at 15 mins before the play started were fair game. They were firmly told that the only seat they could sit in was the one indicated on their ticket. Yes I am that nosey to listen in and find all this out.

Got home late, went to bed around midnight and that meant I needed a lie in this morning to recover. So, work didn't get going until nearly 10 am.

Lunch: Heinz tomato soup and white toast

This reminded me that I need to bake a white loaf, as the toast was made with the last of the previous effort. I've got a Sainsbury's TTD sourdough bread mix, so I'll give that a go

There was a lady from an estate agency down on the lawn with a camera on a tripod while I was preparing lunch, and it looked like she was photographing this half of the block! So I'll need to check RightMove soon and see who's moving

I hope it's not the lass on the ground floor who works in movies and TV. I've only ever spoken to her once (she told me where the bins are when I was moving in) but I always feel that having somebody here who's got their own IMDb page lends a certain cachet to the place

                  Laundry being done.

We've had a brief shower and now it's brightening up again. The forecast doesn't mention much in the way of weather improvement so we'll see how the day progresses.

I've done a good deed to help someone save money on their holidays.

HWMBO's kids are incoming, cluttering up the place this afternoon and evening but sleeping in the Premier Inn up the road as I don't have room for them. They're off to visit family with HWMBO tomorrow before going back to weegieland.

Arty farty thing this morning, followed by supposedly short call at ll2 to drop off the bottle of wine she'd left in me van. There for ages listening to drivelling as usual.

Another day done, so just ten more to go!

We had quite a lot of rain around lunchtime. Then it brightened up again a bit mid-afternoon, but now it's cloudier again
