Tea has been a roast Big Chicken dinner

    Accompanied by Trucking Hell

It's been a very frustrating week. It now seems clear that the likelihood of the project being binned is around the 99% mark, but nobody will say anything officially until various things have been through various processes. So we have to carry on getting things ready for Go Live whilst pretending not to know that any steps towards that goal are almost certainly a complete waste of time and effort, which is annoying to say the least

Luckily, we've been held up for much of the week waiting for another team to sort some technical infrastructure out. I strongly suspect that the head of that team knows perfectly well what's going to happen, and has told the chap who's supposed to be doing the work not to bother unless pestered for it by us, "us" in this case meaning me. So I've left him alone because once he gets that done, my stuff is ready to go and I'll have to start inconveniencing other teams by getting them to do work which they'll have to undo a few days later

Tonight's major motion picture premiere was Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) being the initial film of that ilk. It was entertaining enough, though perhaps not to the extent that I shall rush to watch the remaining films of said ilk

Then, as I felt the need for some lighthearted entertainment after the week I've had (see above), I decided to rewatch Legally Blonde (2001) which is funny and entertaining, though one does have to avoid getting distracted by various very strange aspects of the American further educational system. I think the best strategy is to assume that they were just made up for the purposes of a light comedy, though I suspect that they actually run things that way over there without ever realising how ridiculous it is

I was briefly distracted by the familiarity of the actress playing the female nemesis (who later becomes a friend) of the central character until IMDb revealed that she plays the central character in the excellent psychological thriller Columbus Circle (2012) so I watched that again, and realised for the first time that the building my sister and her husband lived in during their time in NY doesn't just appear in many establishing shots because it's close by there - the film is actually set in their building! The interiors are obviously not filmed there because that would have cost a fortune and been a nuisance the residents (such as Goldie Hawn who lived in the penthouse, and still does for all I know) wouldn't have put up with, but it's definitely supposed to be happening in there

          Goodnight all

            Morning all

CBS, etc. Looks like it could be warm in the garden. The Wife has taken MMtSH to the beach before the grockles turn up, meanwhile it looks like I will be clearing the boundary at the bottom of the garden in preparation for a fence going in. This is not a small job, as it is 30 metres long, up to 4 metres wide in weeds, etc, will involve emptying one log store, chopping that wood to go into one of the indoor wood stores, moving the outdoor wood pile and chopping it to go into the first store. Might not all happen before breakfast.

              Morning.

              Saturday.

              Dry.

              Wanly sunny.

              Blue sky with high haze.

Cool in here at 19.7 deg, 21 deg in the kitchen, 18 deg in the leanto: winter drawers on.

1010 mBar, 29.825 in Hg, 757.56 Torr, 14.6488 psi, (unchanged), 69% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 2nd of November 2019 Brillo got a millennium, there was much discussion of the trauma of odd socks emerging from the WM, and I spotted a copy of "Colossus" in a charity emporium for £1, my £20 copy will probably end up in Oxfam fairly soon.

More gardening: a bramble and honeysuckle massacre before the latter meets the Agent Orange in due course.

Because of the honeysuckle I have raspberry canes that are over 6 feet tall, another plant that's invasive in an irritating sort of way.

              Lunch: baked spud etc.

Entertainment: TLDR on R4, mildly amusing.

Looking at the scratches on my arms and the increasing greyness of the sky, I think that's it for today, unless it clears up later. It's already drizzled on me for half an hour or so.

Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the grey gloom. I saw my shadow at one point.

Entertainment: The Mentalist S7 E12 EOS.

Tea: spag with vegetarian bol (i.e. the usual Dolmeo without any mince): nice enough.

Entertainment: Dixon of Dock Green S22 E7 "Legacy (1976)". The End is Nigh.

                Morning denizens

Cloudy day out, but with fair amounts of blue dotted around. No excessive heat either, being 18°C and going for 21°, while the barometers are down very slightly but not much different at 1003/1010

                  Morning all

Sunny, lots of wispy cloud. Currently 21 degrees with a high of 24 expected. No rain forecast. Barometer down to 1012 mBar.

Off to give blood today. I'm O+ so reasonably useful. I didn't realise there was a NHS Blood Donation Centre in Westfield (Shepherds Bush). Very handy, although I won't be looking round the shops today. Easy to get to on the SL8 bus.
