    Morning.

    Thursday.

    Dry.

    Grey.

    Wanly sunny.

Cool in here at 18.3 deg, 19 deg in the kitchen, 17 deg in the leanto.

1013.5 mBar, 29.92 in Hg, 760.18 Torr, 14.6995 psi, (up for 1011 last night), 71% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 20th of October 2019 I met the late Frank on my walk in the woods: the only other of the 4 of us who did those long walks on a Sunday morning who was then still alive, now I'm the last, and I was wearing some new walking boots (Chinese crap), and I roasted some lamb which shows how things have changed, whereas NF watched "The Thing (1984)" "The Accountant" and MI II, and LM was dealing with VAT.

Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the grey gloom during which it picked with rain.

Five lawns mown while it was picking with rain: I've irritated a horde of little bumble bees by removing those orange weeds they seem to like.

    Lunch: baked spud etc.

Entertainment: TWATO. <click> when it started waffling about association football.

Veronica Mars S3 E10 or was it 11? It was 11: the hooker one.

Tea: chill con carne (tinned) etc.

Entertainment: Dan Do: remarkably brief: 10 minutes.

Just had a look on RightMove and Zoopla, and the parental home is no longer listed

        Afternoon all

Sunny and warm out although quite cloudy too. Currently 21 degrees with a high of 22 expected. Barometer at 1015 mBar.

So far, the day has gone exceedingly pear shaped. I left my friend's house shortly before 9am. I planned to swing by Waitrose on the way home to pick up a shopping order that was set for collection between 10 and 11. On getting a mere two miles up the road, everything came to a halt on account of a rather large accident on Kingston Road in Hampton Wick. Helpfully, a coach driver blocked the road so no-one could move. All adjacent roads were gridlocked and I sat in queues for a good 90 mins before getting through to a clear patch wherein I could enjoy the 20 mph limits our glorious mayor has seen fit to slap on every road with a tree on it. I got to Waitrose at 11.20 instead of the planned 10am. Fortunately they hadn't deemed me a no-show and my goods were still available for pick up.

Now home, sat, cooling off and deciding what to do next with my day.

Lunch: Scotch broth and a bit of wholemeal

Today's forecasted 20% chance of rain in late afternoon was way off, with continuous light and sometimes heavy drizzle all morning

Another day's work done. I'm completely out of enthusiasm for this project now, but at least the end is in sight - there's talk of a handover to the Live Services team in mid-September

I just hope they don't expect me to go with it

Meanwhile, solicitors have been instructed to deal with the sale of the parental home, so I just had to faff around taking pictures of my Driving Licence. Their website was very insistent that using a scan was not acceptable which was mildly annoying as I have one of those sitting on my laptop, but I had to go off and find the thing and take photos of the front and back to upload instead

Off to Big Sainsbury's, despite the drizzle which has returned. I was only able to glance quickly at the old place as I drove past, the pedestrian crossing being green for traffic, but it looks to me as if the idiot landlord has replaced the windows in my old flat with UPVC ones

He's going to wish he hadn't done that - it's a conservation area, and the council strictly enforce it. In my time around there, I've seen work done on surrounding properties that had to be undone at great expense. My old landlord used to say that he couldn't change the handle on the front door without the council coming down on him like a ton of bricks, and he wasn't joking, or not much

In the case of the windows, they can only be replaced with ones that look the same as the originals, which date to around 1880. He's going to find that paying for a full set of antique-style wooden sash windows that look right, on top of whatever he's already paid, will cost an arm and a leg, and he would have been better off just replacing the broken pane and maybe giving the rest a lick of paint

And on the way home, I stopped off at the VAT fraud chip shop, so tea has been cod and chips

I think the end may be in sight for box clearing in the kitchen. There's four to go to storage.

Just need to to figure out where to put all the cleaning and laundry stuff, as there's insufficient space for it all under the sink.

A towel wash was done and successfully dried in the sunshine outside. I need to put a line up for easier laundry hanging.

Tonight's viewing was an old Traffic Cops, as they seem to have a small stash of ones I either haven't seen before or can't tell I have seen before - it's not as if it sticks in the mind, and they're all much the same anyway

                  Friday tomorrow!

                  Goodnight all

Bah! No raspberries at Sainsburies so went to Aldi and Waitrose and they didn't have any either. How can I live without me raspberries?
