Snowing fairly heavily out, augmenting the snow which has lain overnight. There are tracks of small creatures on the lawn, but there seems to have been a slight thaw at some point after they were made so it's unclear what creatures. But a couple of magpies were out and about a few minutes ago. Currently 0°C, maybe reaching 2° later, when the snow is expected to change to rain. The barometers are up a little at 983/991mB
An older (i.e. older than me) lady who lives in one of the other flats on this stairwell has just gone down the drive in defiance of the snow and ice, hood up on her parka, walking stick in one hand, crumpled Sainsbury's carrier bag in the other. She's either an example to us all or an accident waiting to happen
The recycling and waste disposal engineers made their merry way along the road earlier.
Meanwhile on the 5th of May 2019 NF went on a thus far fruitless search for the SMC whilst I bought a 40" HD tv from Lidl that was great at showing programmes in 5 minute chunks before rebooting. It eventually returned whence it came for a refund, after several weeks. Nice tv. Pity it didn't work.
It's still pissing down out there.
Filled the bird feeders and brought in next door's recycling containers & wheelie bin whilst the deluge was on pause.
Pissing down again now & it sounds a bit lumpy.

It's now down to 986.5 mBar at 14:00 GMT. Someone must be letting the air out.
Freecell score: 95%, running average 85%.
Tea: chilli con carne with rice, the last of the peach slices, a yog, 0.91*1.61 pints of good Glengettie tea.
Entertainment: PM.
Wheeler Dealers S9 E6 Mercedes G-Wagen: bought: £9k5, total: £11,463, sold: £12k to Cyprus. No details available. Cleaned it, potched a bit in the engine bay, refinished a piece of wood from the centre console, changed the bumper, front grill, and headlamp surrounds, LED light clusters at the rear, steering wheel, refurbished the seats.
Dull and wet. Lots of that very fine rain you have to squint at when looking out the window to see if it's still raining. Currently 8 degrees with a high of 11 still to come later this afternoon. Weather app says it's foggy (it isn't). Much more rain expected throughout the rest of the day. Barometer up to 996 mBar.
Busy day at work today. Being hounded for reporting updates for a product that's not yet finished being built.
The snow has continued off and on. Around lunchtime it was really going for it with huge flakes like in a cartoon. But at the same time there's been a bit of a thaw, so it isn't quite as much of a covering as there was, and the drive looks a bit slushy - which will probably turn to ice soon
Tea: beef & Guinness stew with a couple bits of white bread, just the thing for wintry weather
Though there does seem to be a bit of a thaw going on. Supposedly, it'll get up to 2°C soon and rain for a while, before turning back to snow in the early hours but not going below freezing. So it's possible it'll all be gone by tomorrow; or maybe the overnight stuff will be more like a blizzard and it'll be snowier than ever. We shall see
The car earlier was a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen. No word as to its fate, as they struggled to sell it until some bloke from Cyprus finally took it off their hands by email
And the gold diggers are still harping on about their mid-season blues
Then S1E3 of Severance in which it's still open to question what they're actually doing in those offices…
And so to bed to read the end of the story of Octavia. She died in 1934, rather to the consternation of the followers to whom she had promised immortality, though they rallied and carried on spreading the word and calling for the bishops to open Joanna Southcott's box; the last of them died in 2012, the year after this book was published. But their organisation had become a charity and still exists, supporting various charitable purposes and operating the Panacea Museum in their property holdings around Octavia's home in Albany Road, Bedford - complete with the Garden of Eden, of course
