Tonight's major motion picture premiere was Mile 22 (2018), one of those action thrillers about a CIA black ops team having to exfiltrate somebody in a foreign city, resulting in lots of car chases and gunplay; though in this case, the somebody is the guy from The Raid and the foreign country is a thinly disguised Indonesia, so there's some good martial arts sequences too. I enjoyed it
And then a rewatch of Gladiator (2000) because it's always worth a watch

Morning.
Dry.
Lots of dew,
Sunny.
Chilly verging on cold 17.9 deg in here while it's 14 deg in the leanto.
1020 mBar, 30.12 in Hg, 765.1 Torr, 14.794 psi, (up from 1019 last night), 73% RH.
Saturday.
Due to the cold feet experience, the electric blanket may be pressed into use from now on.
Long text from EE re turning off something & needing to buy a new device. Turns out it's 3G that's going soon.
Meanwhile back in 31st December 2018 I'd just bought yet another F&F dvd (which I probably haven't watched since it's not exactly high on my must see list), NF was preparing for the new year by fettling the bin bags and I'd repaired the tin shed's door.
Shopping trip to Morrisons done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away.
Walk (much abbreviated) walked in the sunshine.
Lunch: baked potato with cheese & baked beans, red pippy corner yog, slices of toast with marmalade & bramble jelly, 0.91 pints of good Glengettie tea.
Entertainment: Wheeler Dealers S9 E10: 1945 Willys Jeep. No observable number plate and it's old enough not to require MOT or MVD.
Wheeler Dealers S14 E10 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer: it's an Ant one. which explains why it can be watched with half an eye. This was an option on the Citroen HY ep which is repeated next week. Bought for $4500, spent $15k on doing it up. Sold for $26,500.
Wheeler Dealers S14 E7: 1965 Dodge A-100 Sportsman whatever the feck that is (it's an ancient Septic van type of thing). Another Ant one.
Feck me. Bought for $2k. Spent $14k on new engine & gearbox, new suspension (as in chop out the old & install completely different new), new wheels, air suspension.
Edd China would have said "this is the sort of thing you can do at home": not without £20k of tools, a two post lift, and even more welding gear than lives in my shed.
Sold for $19k.
Why does he never use ear defenders when using angle grinders? Must be stone fecking deaf. I said he must be stone fecking deaf .
Tea: spag with portion 2 of the notsofiery bol that I forgot to extract from the freezer yesterday so spend 10 minutes defrosting it, some peach slices, a yog, 0.91 pints of good Glengettie tea.
Entertainment: The political thinking thing on R4 at 17:30: Christopher Steele: he of the report on The Orange One, The 2016 Election, and Putin.
That was so exciting I then mowed the remainder of my lawn, as started yesterday. I think this is more sensible since I'm nowhere near as knackered as when I mown all six (or 7) one after the other in the blazing heat of the afternoon.
Ancient Aliens bollox on Blaze: this one was relatively inneresting since it was about Australia. Apparently there was a henge in Australia but the owners of the land destroyed it back in the 30s/40s.
The Sweeney S3 E9 "Down to you, brother": Jack wreaks some revenge on a slag that got away. Looks like the rather nice RR isn't registered any more. Or the number's been changed.
The Repair Shoppe: 1930s toy scooter, Fred Karno's silver pot, animated bottle stopper.
The Sweeney S3 E10 "Payoff": the missing person from the casino one: not buried in the desert since it's London not Las Vegas, just buried.
Some nonsense on Quest: Mysteries of the Deep: Noah's Ark was circular and 220 feet in diameter, bioluminescence for detecting submarines.Last edited by DoctorStrangelove; 17 September 2022, 22:34.When the fun stops, STOP.Comment

Morning all
Lovely sunny day, it was a chilly 9 degrees when I got up with a high of 17 forecast. Barometer up to 1020 mBar. Down in sunny Sussex it's also a lovely day, similar temperatures.Comment

Afternoon denizens
Sunny out, with hardly a wisp of fluffiness. Not too warm though at 17°C, which is as good as it'll get. The barometers are up a bit more at 1014/1022mB
Had a couple of croissants with strawberry jam with my breakfast coffee while watching New Zealanders look after injured penguins
Better decide what to have for lunch now, before it gets too close to teatimeComment

A ham cob and a bag of plain crisps proved adequate for lunch
That's the canonical lunch really, isn't it.Comment

No lunch, per se, but a pint of Palmers 200 and some Brie on a couple of biscuits tied me over. Bonfire burning down well as we settle down in front of the telly.…Maybe we ain’t that young anymoreComment

No Chinese tonight. Instead, an early tea of a cold roast chicken leg with fries and ketchup
And it's early because I'm going to the pub in a bit
This will be the first time I've gone to the pub in Leicester since February 29th 2020
There's been three pub visits in London: the first was the CUK Xmas do last December, and there's been two work-related occasions this year. And I was in a hotel bar after a funeral last year (though I didn't have any booze because I was driving).
I'll be out of practiceComment

No diving today as we’re flying back tomorrow so today has been spent seeking shade and eating ice cream. one of those two things I was successful at.Comment
