Cooking kippers on the open coal fire was good, all the pong went up the chimney and you knew when it was cooked by the juices dripping on the cinders.
As someone once observed "you could live in a cave".
Lunch: beans on Morrisons sunflower and pumpkin seed toast, corner yogurt thing, bramble jelly sandwich on Morrisons wholemeal, sunflower seed and spelt, 0.91 pints of good Glengettie tea.
Once I've done the dishes, it's off out for a little walk, then back down the garden to do some more clearing of what will eventually turn into Yet More Lawn to mow.
Well it's easier doing that than planting spuds. .
There'll be no blackberries or raspberries out of that patch from now on.
Mine sometimes gives crazy readings if it’s not on right too. It bleeps repeatedly when it thinks something’s too far out of whack but as it seems to produce a rolling average, I sometimes have to take it off and leave it for a second or two before putting it back on, rather than just adjusting it until it’s happy
