Went on a trip to the local Asda supermarket via post box and Boots and found my favourite beer, Old Peculiar, on sale at 4 for 35. So I brought it instead of buying tissues and a few other things.

Many months ago my thick woolly socks were among the things to get stuffed into one of the many unlabelled boxes piled up around the flat. "By the time it's cold enough to need these, I'll have got the place sorted out and unpacked them again," I thought.
Anyway, just bought some thick woolly socks while I was at M&SComment

Time to change the oil in the deep fat fryer. I've come to the conclusion that both the lid and the control panel, though perfectly functional, are far too caked in about ten year's worth of congealed oil residue to be salvageable, so I've ordered new ones while the parts are still available.
Checking Amazon, I now see I could get the latest equivalent version for less than twenty quid moreComment
