      Ah, the perils of hot desking

      Last client co. I was with had a policy of not allowing remote working unless officially sanctioned by a Director, then went and removed 25% of the desk space and made the rest "hot desks" to "encourage flexible working habits across teams." A week later management decided that maybe remote working was actually something to be supported after all, rather than having staff sat in the canteen all day or squatting in meeting rooms trying to work cos they couldn't get a desk.

            A few clients I've had have had a policy of hot desking. However they gave some permanent staff desktop computers which were only allowed to be set up by some support bod...
