Just diagnosed a fault in a samsung LCD tv.
It's a shorted mosfet transistor.

Just asked Eclipse to check for updates.
It threw its hands up in dismay, wailing about all kinds of woes.
Turned out I'd left it configured to use a local proxy that isn't running at the moment for its network connections, so it's hardly surprising it was having trouble
