I'm struggling to ignore it.

Is it really meaningless? It contains an instruction - to ignore it - thereby it serves a purpose. So it has meaning.

If I ignore it, I will not know it is meaningless. So I must read it. Hence, one can end up caught in a perpetual forget / read loop. Can an eternal activity have no meaning?

What is 'meaning'? The post make sense and so has meaning. So in that sense it is not meaningless.

Is 'meaning' intended to imply 'purpose'? Then why post it?

From a philosophical perspective, this would tax a Greek.

Hmmm, did you happen to notice if these were also the first posts by the user? If they were then the threads would normally be subject to moderator approval before even appearing wouldn't they? (I can't remember whether new users can actually create threads until they have been approved.)

The limit on new posters is based on number of posts or time spent. Therefore, they wouldn't have needed approval.

Plus, there was a time when new posters didn't need to be approved - it was when there was the SJD trouble that it was introduced.
