For this statement to be taken seriously, I would like to know how senior the person at HMRC was?

In any case if it is to happen, in the private sector so soon, why didn't they announce both at the same time?
I'm sure that HMRC would have liked to do that, but there must have been a very strong reason why they didn't.

Doing this in the public sector is easy to justify. I think you will find many people in the Private Sector that know a lot about IR35, that will push right back.

I am sure the HMRC would love it brought in tomorrow but ultimately the Treasury will decide.

Not to say it won't happen in 12 months but there is a bigger picture the Treasury are (supposed) to see.

OK, it's your contract and your funeral. But cavalier behaviour and trying to circumvent the rules on both sides is why we're in this mess in the first place.

And you think this would stop the juggernaut that is HMRC? think again. no matter what disruption it causes it wont stop them IF this is to be announced.

I'm just suggesting doing this in the public sector, where it involves public money, is a hell of a lot of an easier sell than in the private sector.

I agree actually, but I also think that they will try and bring this is into the Private Sector asap for balance.

I am hoping the silver lining for me (in 12 months time) will be working from home with a deliverables based contract.
