Can I have PM right please
    Thanks!
hi, how does your figure calculated? Mine was calculated as total income tax due (revised) + tax overpaid (declared). But this doesn't look sensible to me as it should be total tax due - tax overpaid instead I think. Am I misunderstanding the word overpaid here? Also the final figure listed as Difference which mathematically should be A - B rather than A + B!
If I'm wrong please can someone explain this.
    Thanks.

Don't get too hung up on the maths, I've yet to see or hear of an assessment by HRMC that was correct.......just another indicator of how truly inept HMRC actually are.

        Nobody heard anything since appeal?

A lot of people have appealed but wonder whether they have heard anything back since their appeal?
Nobody has heard from HMRC since appealing? Or they have got a deal with HMRC to keep quiet?...

I have been advised to appeal by Contractor Helpdesk. I got in contact with Cobham Murphy too and to be fair were just as unhelpful. So I have collected all my P60 and P11d forms for 2009/2010 and 2010/2011, compared it to the amount that HMRC has and there you go!!! They have taken the loan amount from the P11d form and 50% tax on that. After I worked out what my allowances etc are for the year, I def wasn't a higher tax rate payer, thus reducing it with my accountants help.

READ IT CAREFULLY and BE PREPARED is all I can say!!! Also it helps that I called the number on my Assessment form and got the DOTAS registered number for the scheme.

          Good luck all

Boats getting rather full - should we get together?

            Hi All,

            Demand's in for 08/09, 09/10

            Enquiry/Assesment for 10/11

Are we all appealing postponing and then sitting back to see what happens? Meanwhile the interest at 3% / yr is adding up.

no news from CB but I hope they have success.....for us all.

I assume if and when HMRC tackles the scheme in court we all have to club together to fight, shouldn't we arrange that club now?

Just loving the dark cloud above my head!!!!

Hi, no my assesment was based upon 20% of the total figure within each or the two P11D forms.

                Shafted By Sanzar and HMRC

                Hi All

Administrator - can I have PM access please?

I would be grateful if someone can help - I would like to be part of any group action/defense in relation to the Sanzar investigations by HMRC.

I recieved an initial letter from them which I appealed - simply wrote back explaining I didnt agree with the bill and that as far as I was aware Sanzar had agreed to pay all my UK taxes. If they hadnt HMRC should ask Sanzar as they registered the scheme with HMRC. This was accepted by HMRC and they withdraw the request. When I later looked back I realised the during the period for which they were demanding money I wasnt even a contractor - I was working as a permie which gives you an insight into HMRC money grabbing mentality on this issue.

Ive recently recieved another letter, this time for the period which I was indeed with Sanzar thinking it a legitimate, declared way of minimising my tax bill - totally legal. This time the amount is much bigger. I have appealed using the same letter as before but HMRC have disagreed and are now applying interest to the amount while it goes through an appeal (which I have no idea about how to handle).

Initial advice with my accountant was to recommend I negotiate an amount and settle - but the amount is simply too much.

What should my next step be? Any advice greatly appreciated. I am happy to share my initial letter to HMRC in case it can help others. Also, I would like to contribute financially to fund a group appeal...

Hi, I would like to see your initial appeal letter but don't think I have PM enabled, Admin, please can I have PM enabled? don't think it's allowed to put email here.

did you try to negotiate an amount? If so how? A certain percentage? Or any means?
have you checked that what they asked for, assuming the 'loan' was taxable, is correct?

                    Hi.

I have just received the Assessment Letters from HMRC for both 09/10 and 10/11.
I left Sanzar some time ago and set up a LTD Company and, not being much of a Tax Guru, was completely unaware of what's seemingly been going on around me whilst I went merrily about my everyday business.
I have read many of the posts on this thread and it seems that most if not all Users are appealing against HMRC's decision via Cobham Murphy.
Is this correct and is this generally considered to be the way forward in the first instance?
I am REALLY glad I happened upon this forum as I thought I was the only one in this predicament!!

                    Regards,
                    RB65

                      Interesting Read

I would have a look at http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...k&gl=uk]Taxing matters | New Law Journal[/url] covers murray & charlton which could become very significant.
