Thanks for the detailed history Prof. Cunning.

I have stopped using the scheme since 2018.

I just wanted to know what you meant by this (SP Management is the company I was using).

He was talking to other readers - you already know the situation.

Just to note, I added https://opencorporates.com/corporate...of%20Companies to WTFHs post as I’m sure that’s going to be quoted…

Looking at that list one of the current UK umbrellas is party to the same cloning issue that Clarity is suffering.

Although it's not all bad news:
            https://www.thenational.scot/news/20...sive-tax-bill/

One company that isn't mentioned in Cojak's link is PPE Medpro, which was run by Knox House and Barrowman, and got £203million worth of Covid PPE contracts from the government due to Michelle Mone, and possibly helped by Barrowman's £50k donation to the Tory party that went via Lancaster Knox.
That's Lancaster Knox as mentioned previously, whose address is 2nd Floor, National House 60-66 Wardour Street London W1F 0TA.
The same address as PPE Medpro (London office).

It's a very welcome start. But as pittance of a fine.

I have sent off the appeal to HMRC as of 21st April and asked for confirmation of the postponement of tax payment, delivery tracking shows it as being signed for and recieved.

                  1) What should I expect next from HMRC ?

                  2) What steps shall I take next in the mean time?

                    1) you should get a letter acknowledging your appeal and confirming that they have accepted your request for postponement

                    2) you need to think about what you want to do
                    a) if you want to delay things as long as possible, then do nothing and wait to hear from HMRC; HMRC are very slow, so this could easily drag on for a few years
                    b) if you want to stop interest accruing on the debt, then you could make payments on account
                    c) if you'd rather settle and get it all over and done with, then contact HMRC
Scoots still says that Apr 2020 didn't mark the start of a new stock bull market.

                      ErrolFlynn

I am in pretty much the same position as you after using SP Management and Carnegie Knox. What I have done so far is:

                      1) Sent the HMRC letters to SP Management and Carnegie Knox for comment and received this reply:

"If you choose not to appeal against this then the liability shown is due now.

If you wish to appeal and would like us to assist then please contact us by email and we will be able to assist. Our fee for undertaking this work is £100+VAT. This will cover the initial response and any correspondence directly related to the same.

Please note Carnegie Knox only offer a routine accountancy and tax compliance service and as such we are unable to provide specialist tax advice or handle complex HMRC enquiries or investigations.

If you need specialist tax advice in regards to any further HMRC enquiries that are not in relation to the Regulation 80/ Section 8, you may wish to engage with an advisor who can provide this service. We recommend PTS Limited with whom we have partnered and worked with for a number of years. They are able to carry out such specialist work and have wide experience in the contractor market place. Their email address is [email protected]."

-I think it's shocking that they now want more money to appeal against an issue they have seemingly created. I note they are also trying to refer people on to PTS which I believe is a subset of their company and potentially just another "money spinner".
-Upon speaking to a tax advisor they have advised not to bother paying Carnegie to appeal as they will simply write an appeal letter to HMRC, the issue will then be sent to tribunal at which point Carnegie will either not help any further or will charge you more. I find it hard to believe Carnegie will assist at a tribunal given they are the ones who setup this alleged disguised remuneration scheme.

                      2) I reached out to all the Tax Consultants on this forum for advice. Only one of them has come back to me and that is WTT. You may want to talk to them as they are familiar with SP Management and Carnegie Knox and they have some sort of group initiative in order to appeal against these alleged Tax Avoidance Schemes. I am not sure that I completely understand it yet so I don't want to say too much or mis-quote what they are doing and so I urge you to contact them directly. I am considering joining them however I am also worried about wasting even more money if they are unsuccessful.

                      3) I reached out to my business insurance for which I had legal cover for a number of things including HMRC investigations. Needless to say it has been a struggle to get them to acknowledge and agree to take on the case which I have been pursuing all week and is still on-going. If they do agree, there may even be a chance I can get them to pay towards to the WTT group initiative.

                      4) I have thought about contacting HMRC to discuss this, explain that I acted in good faith but stupidly enough got scammed, acknowledge that there is seemingly some sort of problem here and how we got here is irrelevant and that I just want to make this right and settle this problem for my own sanity, but that I don't know how I am going to afford this.
However I am worried that under pressure on the phone they may get me to say something which may make my position worse. I know nothing about tax and company accounts which is why I employed the services of accountants to take care of everything in the first place.

I need to put in my appeal to HMRC within the next week which I will do but obviously just putting in the appeal wont make this go away, and so some sort of action needs to be taken.

I am basically pursuing all avenues here as like you I don't know what to do, I have been very shocked to receive these scary letters through the door and quite frankly the stress of it all is impacting on my health.

I am simply just letting you know what I am doing in case it helps you in any way. I am also open to (and grateful for) any advice that anyone else can provide.

                      Thank you everybody...
