Tax Talk are advising ex TRM scheme users that was non dotas to settle as the case is to similar to the arrangement of the lost case of Philip Boyle v HMRC. Tax talk are owned by the people who ran TRM, Cherrylone etc so hard to take their advice as independent. Can the BIG GROUP help me as I fear a APN any day?

I've spent some time today going over the Boyle case.

As has been observed, it's hard to find a worse example and I find it difficult to believe that the TRM/Cherrylon scheme is EXACTLY the same.

However, if somebody wishes to lend BIG GROUP their TRM/Cherrylon papers, I'll run a comparison.

Hi Webberg,

Apologies if this has been asked already and I'm playing devils advocate here. If I join up today with the £60 joining fee and then £18 per month from 1st July, what extra am I going to gain from waiting until December to join up (saving £100 or so on monthly fees)?

The CLSO closes at the end of June.

My expectation is that we will see an acceleration from HMRC in terms of more APN, perhaps FN, more enquiry and perhaps the early stages of litigation.

This will begin probably towards the end of August when HMRC officers return from their 4 weeks away.

I'd like to be prepared for all and any questions and that means research, contacting existing groups, contacting existing advisers, building the matrix and weight we need to counter the inevitable, finding other contractor groups outside this forum, advertising, writing articles and publicising the cause, lobbying press and politicians.

I am taking considerable risk here by spending time on the above that I could charge elsewhere. This is obviously not entirely altruistic on my part and I have to feel that as DS says the numbers to make the whole thing work will be there. The best indication is early joiners to provide a critical mass (and funds) to support the advertising especially.

If take up is slow to build I will have to temper the above effort and that will be to the detriment of all. I'm already deferring my fees into the future and that is not a long term sustainable plan.

So, by joining NOW, sharing your data and information, we are better prepared for the ramp up from HMRC that I'm convinced will begin as soon as the CLSO is nominally over in September (i.e. June close, calculations by September).

Earlier this afternoon, the number of people who have 'pledged' an initial £50 to get this group going passed the 100 mark, and we are now at 101. There are also a further 6 people who have expressed an interest in possibly joining at a later date.

To have gathered such numbers in a group in less than four weeks says (I think) a lot about the depth of feeling about the HMG/HMRC persecution of law-abiding people - even more so since we recognise that this will, in all likelihood - be a loooooooong fight.

So thanks to all who have committed, and self-congratulations to us all ...

And many thanks also to 'webberg' for proposing and driving this course of action.

(The only reason I have put the POST# against each name is to avoid confusion over who may have said what and when, and to allow some de-duplication).
