Well at least your honest I suppose.

Regarding your last comment though, I know the meat I eat has a provenance - I get it from a local farm, I know the farmers and I know where it's slaughtered - at the local slaughterhouse in Frome which actually has an excellent welfare record as it has a very low turnover. Unfortunately a lot of the local slaughterhouses are being closed (I'm sure the EU is behind this but I can't remember how) with operations being moved to these large industrial scale processing plants where abuse does occur.

If I know somethings Halal, I will avoid it in case it hasn't been stunned. That said, I avoid all factory farmed meat anyway so will go for a vegetarian option when eating out.

Well, of couse we all know that's true don't we?

Only partly so. As with halal, it's more to do with healthy living in the desert in the dark ages. Times have moved on FFS.

I've growth up with Kosher meat. I prefer non-Kosher since I prefer to eat rump and leg of lamb, as well as Prosciutto. It's all imaginary friends...

I actually only buy organic - not going to feed my family anything pumped with hormones and fed on GM maize. But I do understand the kosher laws and why religious jews think they are relevant today.

I still won't eat pork or shellfish though. Not surprising most people are stuck on the toilet after a bucket of oysters.

If Islamic extremists were targeting Western government organisations rather than innocent Christians/Sikhs or Hindus I would have some sympathy with them.

My point is not about the number of deaths, a million men have been killed in one battle, but the wide geographical distribution, the religiously dogmatic reasons behind it and the numbers of purely innocent people, not soldiers or combatants, who are affected. Are the US attacking people, including women and children, based purely on their religious beliefs, in many countries in the Middle east, The Far East, South Asia and Africa? Are US terrorists threatening innocent people in Europe, Russia and the US?

I don't think so. In these things, at the moment, Islam is quite unique.
When you say US/Western, don't you mean Christian? Count Russia in as well and isn't there a real problem of Christian state terrorism in poor, mostly Muslim countries?

Religion really pees me off. Im all up for everyone having the right to do what they want and worship who and what they want.

But not when they expect special treatment that affects the rest of us.

If you want special treatment then pay for it yourself.

Also, religious or not, the UK is a christian-based country. Whereas I'd defend vigourously anyones right to worship another religion in the UK, you need to bear this in mind. And also bear in mind that the freedom you are thus allowed is more than is given in some non-christian countries as recent news events prove.

So you're hardly likely to be easting at a Toby Carvery or Subway as the original post discussed.
