Lunch break contract mobile phone forage went something like this :

EE : Full to the gunwhales, stood around waiting for 10 mins before giving up.
Vodafone : Clerk didn't know how to process business contracts. Went off to ask before coming back with a manager who confirmed they need -

      Passport or drivers license
Bank statement with business addresss on (printed is fine)
      Purchase order on headed stationery.

O2 : Very knowledgable young lady confirmed they need

Bank statement with business addresss on (printed is fine)
      Pak codes.
      Business debit or credit card.

      Upshot, still no phones.

I changed to 3 the other day and just told them my sort code and account number.

There is no way I would be letting a mobile shop lose with my company statement.

edits: In fact I never even told them it was a business account, why should it matter?

It depends on whether you want the invoice to be addressed to your company, or to you personally.

There's the tax breaks as well, without having to itemise a bill each month.

I don't really care if the money comes out the business account and the invoice is sent to me personally.

I cant see anyone ever looking at 12.90 a month coming out the business account and demanding to see the invoices.

And just to confirm, I recently transferred ownership of my Vodafone contract from myself to MyCo, and they needed:
                • A signed and dated authorisation letter on company letter headed paper or purchase order of Ticktock Ltd mentioning the mobile number(s) and the business account to which you want to transfer in a non-editable format (for example .jpg or .pdf)
                • A copy of your most recent Utility bill (e.g. electricity, landline telephone, water bill, council tax bill, rent invoice or agreement) which confirms name and address of the Listed Director who is signing in Section 7 of the Transfer of Ownership form.
                • A copy of most recent Business bank statement which confirms your business name and address along with Account number and sort code. Make sure it has same business address as Transfer form section 3 or 4.
                • Id proof of listed director's signature (you will need to provide a copy of their driving license or passport or Shotgun Licence).

Tax breaks. What tax breaks would you possibly want on a £20 a month all you can eat contract.... Especially as business contracts always cost way more than the equivalent consumer version.

As I've said before buy the phone outright via the company and just get a sim only contract. It would take minutes to do...

I really cannot understand why on earth you are trying to do this apart from
                  • making yourself look like a fool,
                  • create unnecessary grief for yourself
                  • wasting hours of your time
                  • pay over the odds

Are you someone who expenses £5 for lunch every day or asks for a receipt at the work canteen..

Mine doesn't. My sim only plan costs the same on both personal and business accounts.

Isn't this only allowed if both the phone and the contract are through the business... as we are advocating?

Perhaps becuase you don't understand that business expenses should go through the business and be invoiced to the business.

No, I pay £3 - 4 for lunch most days, and get a receipt, but not from work canteens.

Its a £180 a year contract. At 20% corporation tax that is a grand total of £36 saved. Given the hassle of setting up a business account as described above I really can't see the point.... Plus 90% of the calls I make are personal and until very recently smartphones couldn't be used as a company phone

As for the other points, meh I'm a developer and need them for testing purposes.
