              Not if its a catastrophic breakup/decompression or something similar.
              Something that immediately knocked out the pilots.
              Indeed, given that they didn't "mayday" that's the most likely scenario.

              One other possibility is that one of the pilots was a nutter and disabled comms before crashing the plane like the Egypt Air nutter pilot a few years ago.

                    Breakup at altitude becomes plausible during the flight cycle once weight on wheels is transferred to the wings following take off. This has happened in the past but usually the time to event follow takeoff is very short. But this aircraft is allowed to reach 35,000 feet before this event? Pilot, crew, passengers would have heard something prior to this.
