I need some advice on changing my line of work.
I have been working for many years as a solution designer. I am thinking of becoming a business analyst. Over the years I have picked up a large amount of knowledge of the business domain that I specialise in, so I am confident that becoming a BA for me wouldn’t be much of a challenge. I am also very good with people, especially non-techie people, like business stakeholders.
So that’s all good – but as a contractor how do I make the switch? The only BA role I did was 3 years ago and that too was a BA/SD hybrid role. Agents would obviously want to see solid BA experience before I even get a call. What should I do?
I am prepared to lower my rates initially.
Thanks.
PS. With regards to why I want to move, it's because I am growing tired of staying constantly up-to-date with technology and new versions of products, and I am beginning to crave a slightly more peaceful life. Probably a sign of age.
