Thanks Cojak. Will do.Originally posted by cojak View PostIf you've already done a bit of BA/SD work you'll have got your hands dirty gathering requirements?
My advice is to head down the Technical BA route (it used to be called System Analysis in the old days).
Have a look at TBA job specs and tweak your CV accordingly.

I'd find out what a BA actually does first.Originally posted by bf2 View PostI need some advice on changing my line of work.
I have been working for many years as a solution designer. I am thinking of becoming a business analyst. Over the years I have picked up a large amount of knowledge of the business domain that I specialise in, so I am confident that becoming a BA for me wouldn’t be much of a challenge. I am also very good with people, especially non-techie people, like business stakeholders.
So that’s all good – but as a contractor how do I make the switch? The only BA role I did was 3 years ago and that too was a BA/SD hybrid role. Agents would obviously want to see solid BA experience before I even get a call. What should I do?
I am prepared to lower my rates initially.
Thanks.
PS. With regards to why I want to move, it's because I am growing tired of staying constantly up-to-date with technology and new versions of products, and I am beginning to crave a slightly more peaceful life. Probably a sign of age.
