I discovered the other day that if I put my bathroom scales on the bath mat, I weigh two stone less. So I'll do that instead

I'm looking froward to resurrecting my ice-cream maker when I move to the new house

I did that the other day - only 'cos I put down the two wine bottles I had in my hand!

Of course, here's the one I based between GF#1's family recipe and a Nigella infusion:

                  2 squeezed oranges
                  2 squeezed lemons
                  6 cloves
                  2 cinnamon sticks
                  1 bottle good Chianti
                  1 tsp ground mixed spice
1/2 cup (add to taste) light brown sugar
A good dosing of good ruby port

Add all and cook slightly pre-full-boiling for 20 mins.

You can add a whisked egg white as I did to the cooled mixture but I don't have an ice cream maker so it required a frequent amount of mixing during freezing - ice cream maker may be better. The port should make it soft enough - take care on pre-defrost for serving - it melts quickly.

If you ask nicely I'll tell you my cinnamon ice cream recipe - whole family said it was lovely to the point my sister has not returned the bloody carton of it!

Hmm, am curious as to how you got it to freeze successfully as alcohol impedes the freezing process.

As for the cinnamon ice-cream, I'll pass, not a big fan.

It does, but makes sure you boil the wine thoroughly and add a reserved amount of port. It works, seriously.
