No. Outliers aside the trend in global sea ice is downwards, the increase in Antarctic ice is slight, about 1.5% / decade, but significant. Most of the IPCC models did indeed project a decrease in Antarctic sea ice, but with a big spread in the projections.

The CMIP5 simulations on average simulate a decrease in Antarctic sea ice extent though Turner et al. (2013) find that approximately 10% of CMIP5 simulations exhibit an increasing trend in Antarctic sea ice extent larger than observed over the 1979-2005 period.
The models are not perfect, no model is. They are useful, though.

any sine wave will go down, trough, then go up

only an eejit would ride the downward slope and say - 'this is forever'

the january max and the antarctic data demonstrate this perfectly.

the models are not useful for determining policy. they are a long way from being suitable for that

only an eejit would cover the land with windmmills, chop down trees and subject our people to fuel poverty based on those models

Out of all the Hitler parodies, that's a pretty good one.

From a charting perspective, the Arctic Ice has hit a higher low, that may signal an uptrend. Either way, the time frame doesn't go back very far.

And so what if the planet is warming? It may well be, and if so, we need to adapt as species have done for millions of years. The bit I don't believe is that we are causing the change.

In a few years children won't know what snow is, they'll have to experience it in a museum.

Funny stuff this global warming, all in all.
In the 60s and early 70s a new ice age was being predicted.

Then we had those two hot summers and it was all forgotten.

They are only useful in that they are inconclusive and therefore can be manipulated to support any argument

Looks like the washed up weatherman got it bang on

the winds changed as predicted and now the two trapped vessels are heading for the open ocean

Watts predicted the 7th - 8th and bang on

Oh puh-leeze. The man can read a weather chart (actually an 'operational data model', models are OK this week) , you'd hope so. It was the bogus claim that the Russian ship in the Antarctic was asking for weather information from a San Diego TV weatherman because they 'didn't have adequate weather data on-board' that stuck in the craw. They didn't even get the name of the US Coastguard media person correct.

A claim apparently bought hook, line and sinker in certain 'sceptical' quarters.
