no they are really tough on non prescription (and some prescription drugs) at customs, to the point they have locked people up for aspirins. -
In the UAE they're very strict on medicines being brought in to the country and if it's not something for which you have a prescription it's best to leave it at home. If you need an aspirin on the plane, ask the stewardess, and if you need aspirin once you get there, visit a chemist or a drugstore; they sell pretty much everything you can buy in the UK. They do have a decent sevens side, filled up with old internationals from overseas.
