Quite frankly that's going to get up the nose of the vast majority 15 - 29 year olds.

A religion that means you can't get p*ssed on Friday night and try and get laid is always going to be viewed as suspicious by the good-old British teenager.

That is true, adults that don't drink get viewed on suspiciously by a lot of people.

This is probably quite close to the truth, although personally, while I indulged somewhat in my youth, I didn't have anything against people who are religious and still don't. Maybe it's difficult for some people to seperate the teachings, the scriptures, their interpretations and the individual believers.

We should alo remember this; "BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat survey was carried out by the pollsters Comres in June after the soldier Lee Rigby was murdered in the street in Woolwich, south east London, in May. "
Just the kind of moment when people might say something they wouldn't otherwise say, and they might think differently after a while.
Young peoples views tend to narrow and harden as they get older not more open. Also young people don't tend to want to be seen as racist etc so the figure could be higher. Also you haven't answered my question, why, having been more integrated, is the number so high?

Can we say that about Muslim women? In fact as we don't have the balls to make them register their faith marriages underage weddings are pretty common and also having multiple married women is pretty common, I cant even be bothered starting on the face masks, forced marriage, honour killings or mutilation. These problems are rampant. We should stop making excuses for them and be more confrontational if we want to bring the religion into the 21st century.
Can you teach me more about Islam?

I didn't know that forced marriages, honour killings and mutilation were part of Islam. I can tell you are a very learned person.

I don't know. You'd need to see more of a breakdown of the data into educational level, place of residence and so on and perhaps find patterns. It's noticeable here in NL that support for the anti-Islam PVV party is strongest in the poor neighbourhoods of a couple of cities and some very rural 'bible belt' areas where you'd hardly ever meet a muslim. Support for them in the big cities and support among educated people who deal with very varied people every day is much lower.

So people who decide not to drink are the ones we should be weary of......

Sure it makes sense to trust a drunk person over a sober one. Nice logic.

You clearly don't understand the difference between culture and religion.

                  LEE RIGBY

The poll was taken after the death of Drummer Lee Rigby who was murdered by two Islamic extremists. The families of those extremists where Christian.

I initially made a point that the BBC is trying to stir up hatred as all the polling companies release their polls within a month of doing their surveys.

Unless that was stated in the poll it is an assumption and a dangerous one at that as I think it's far deeper than just a reaction to one off incident. I also think it has very little to do with Islam itself and more to do with culture and values.
