Well said.
Nick Griffin has an excellent interview where even he has changed his views on what Islam and Muslims are really about.
This all boils down to one particular interpretation - that is the Salafist/Wahibi interpretation originating from Saudi Arabic (Whom are government are too scared to criticise!). It really is as simple as that - you can't expect shia or sufi muslims to explain the actions of those whom they are victims of themselves! That should explain how ridiculous some of the points are in this thread. Go and protest to the government for their support of Saudi who are pumping billions into spreading their ideology of hate.Comment

they could also strive to eradicate the extremist teachings in their mosques which are leading their followers astray.
You don't eradicate things like the BNP you control it and make it looks sad, bad & stupid by removing it from anyone's mind as an acceptable option.Last edited by vetran; 27 September 2013, 08:53.Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.Comment

Anyway with all the disdain and painting extremists as stupid, we no have a situation in Europe where some very distasteful parties are riding high in the polls; the Dutch PVV, who this week sat in parliament wearing badges that showed the old orange-white-blue Dutch flag that was abolished after the war as it was used by the Nazis, the FN in France who want a ban on wearing keppels, and others. We don't know what to do about this, and everything we try seems to make the problem worse; don't expect moderate muslims to do any better. However, if moderate muslims do succeed in doing what we have consistently failed to do, then they will have done European societies a great service. How do they want me to help? How do you know I don't already?
The original question was how do we improve the public's trust in Muslims. The answer I believe is for their leaders to denounce extremism, not permit it in any way in their places of worship and encourage integration just like successful integrators like the Sikhs.

Could we not do a version of Breaking Amish with them, Breaking Jihad maybe?
Get their veils and bomb vests off and get them into swimming cozzies. Ply them with booze and follow them round with cameras as they make tits out of themselves.
If they want to reach out to the youth that is they way to do it.Comment
