A semicircle with a radius of about 2 inches?
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

I think the adjective used in this statement takes the normal English language meaning. If English is not your first language then you should invest in a Thesaurus. May I recommend the Collins Thesaurus of the English Language which defines "protracted" as:
extended, long, prolonged, lengthy, never-ending, drawn-out, interminable, spun out, dragged out, overlong.

          I hope that helps.

So technically he could have used that word however from a syntactic point of view it just sounds wrong...

The crash site was a protracted distance in length.
              vs
The cash site spans quite a distance and contains over 70 vehicles across all the lanes...

Easy to dissect after the fact but not so easy on the fly with a camera or microphone in your face.
